Regardless of your political affiliations and perception of the election, now's a good time to start thinking of how Drumpf's presidency will impact the real estate market. About 170 guests attended the festive fundraising gala at Darlington House for the Social Serves League of La Jolla through silent auction bids. This year Jim, along with his wife Linda, was in attendance and won a yacht cruise for 10 at the live auction in support of the League!

HAVE YOU HEARD OF HYGGE?

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your experience with snowdrifts), San Diego isn't blessed with a 'White Christmas', high-alpine ski resorts, or snowmen. But we all occasionally long for that feeling of "cozy," at home with the fireplace roaring and a warm mug of something. Many of us southern dwellers have experienced holiday events still held outside, with little more than sweaters to combat the slight breeze.

SHOP SMALL THIS SATURDAY

We lavish in the beauty of La Jolla's location, right here on the ocean. But we also benefit from the active life of the town and businesses that surround us. So this year, on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, spend quality time with your family and friends, eating a good meal, and maybe getting some exercise (we'll all need it) hiking through our beautiful hills and canyons, or along the coast. And on Saturday, think about supporting our neighbors, small, locally owned and operated businesses here in La Jolla and San Diego County at large.

This year, consider gifting your loved ones by supporting a cause and making a donation in their name. Even better, if you're running out of time to buy presents, donating to a charity is a quick, easy way to finish your to-do list.

Looking for some Halloween festivities for your family this weekend? Once again, La Jolla proves itself a wonderful place to live by providing a litttle Friday night, pre-Halloween activity.

5 HOUSING TRENDS FOR 2017

Next year, the housing market will be in the middle of two massive demographic waves, millennials and baby boomers – that will power demand for at least the next 10 years. Although increasing interest rates have prompted® to lower its prediction of millennial market share to 33 percent of the buyer pool; millennials and baby boomers will still comprise the majority of the market. Baby boomers are expected to make up 30 percent of buyers in 2017 and given they’re less dependent on financing, they are anticipated to be more successful when it comes to closing.
