Finding Fun for the Whole Family!

New to the area? Are you and your family looking for adventure and fun? Look no further than the town that you live in. San Diego is the ideal place to live. It’s known for its near-perfect weather and amazing beaches. However, there is one particular place in the city that everyone needs to visit. Pacific Beach is filled with beach bars, endless outdoor adventures, and surfing. With its eclectic list of things to do, Pacific Beach has something for everyone. Whether it’s the beach, the bay, or a bit further inland, you will find something to enjoy.  Let’s check out a few adventures this special place offers.

It only makes sense that most things to do in Pacific Beach involve water or the beach. It is, after all, ranked as one of San Diego’s best beaches.  Enjoy the afternoon walking the 3.2-mile boardwalk lined with bars, restaurants, and shopping.

Lounge on the Beach

At the end of the boardwalk from Pacific Beach, you will find Mission Bay. It’s a must-see while in the area. It offers much calmer waters than the waves at Pacific Beach.  This makes it the perfect place to spend the day with the family. Bring the paddleboards or kayaks and relax in the bay’s calm waters. You can even rent a party boat to enjoy the evening.

If you want to relax in the sand, Pacific Beach offers 3+ miles of coastline to soak in the sun. Grab a chair and a blanket and find your little slice of paradise.

Catch a Wave

Want to catch a few waves? Head over to Tourmaline Beach and Surf Park. It’s perfect for experienced longboarders and beginners looking to ride their first wave.  For individual or group lessons on how to surf, check out San Diego Surf School. They can be found on North Pacific Beach, where the water is calm and the waves are steady. You can even book a surf camp for you or your kids.   They will have you riding waves often after your first lesson.

Crystal Pier

Crystal Pier is the most iconic part of Pacific Beach. As it stretches out into the ocean, you get a fantastic view of the entire town. Crystal Pier is home to the most popular waters to surf in Pacific Beach. And did you know that you can rent cottages and sleep above the water? What better way to fall asleep after a long day than to the sounds of the ocean?

Rent a Bike or Scooter

One of the most fun things to do is rent a bike or an electric scooter and explore. Ride along the Ocean Walk boardwalk that runs parallel to the shore. Or, if you are looking for a less crowded area, ride to Mission Bay. Are you looking for a little more adventure? Take a guided bike or scooter tour. The ride offers views that most people don’t even know about.

Eat Dessert at Baked Bear

If you need a break from the beach and are looking for something sweet, grabbing dessert at the Baked Bear is right up your alley. They are a made-to-order ice cream sandwich shop that is well worth the walk. They combine two of the best desserts-cookies and ice cream. You choose what flavor cookies you want and what ice cream flavor to build your perfect ice cream sandwich. They have you covered, from a brownie sandwich with mint chip ice cream to a funfetti cookie sandwich with cookies and cream ice cream.  Too tired to hang out on the boardwalk and enjoy your sweet treats? Grab your ice cream by the pint and cookies by the dozen and eat when ready.

Don’t forget PB’s Inland Neighborhood

Need a break from the surf and sand? Head inland. Perched above the Pacific Beach neighborhood, you’ll find Kate Sessions Park.  You can enjoy views of Mission Bay, the San Diego skyline, and the Pacific Ocean. Bring your blankets for a family picnic or relax and watch the sunset. There is plenty of open space for kite flying, frisbee throwing, and ball playing.  The park has barbecues, picnic tables, playgrounds, and restrooms.

No matter what you and your family are looking to do in Pacific Beach, you will surely find fun for everyone.  Surf, sand, snacks, and adventure are around every corner.  What will become your favorite way to have family fun?
